Workshop Registration Fee: $100.00 per person; a
total of $400.00 for all workshops.
Bundled/early registration discount rate:
$250.00 for three workshops and $300.00 for four
workshops if enrolled before the early
registration deadline of June 5, 2015.
Early Registration Deadline: Friday, June 5,
2015.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: NO Refunds for
cancellations occurring 2 days before the

Workshop Description
This interactive, hands-on workshop covers
strategies for improving board governance in
nonprofit organizations.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who is currently or planning to serve on
a board, commission, or steering committee and
who wishes to increase their capacity to lead
community building organizations. New, seasoned
or potential board members as well as Executive
Directors and/or staff who provide Board
support. Whether you are a new or seasoned board
member, it’s helpful to clearly understand the
role of the board, and be certain that your
board is fulfilling its governance
responsibilities.
Participants will learn:
• The roles and responsibilities of board
members
• How to conduct effective meetings
• How to recruit and involve board members
• The dynamics of the board/staff relationships
• How to be accountable to the board’s legal and
fiduciary responsibilities
• The organizational dynamics: what makes
organization succeed or fail
ABOUT THE TRAINER:
Frank J. Omowale Satterwhite, Ph.D.,
Scholar-in-Residence, the Milano School of
International Affairs, Management and Urban
Policy; President of Leadership Incorporated;
and Lead Trainer, Professional Development for
Consultants, Community Leaders in Metropolitan
Atlanta.
Omowale is an acclaimed community-building
specialist with more than 30 years of experience
providing technical support and building
capacity for social change in underserved,
underrepresented and other justice seeking
communities. He now serves as president of
Leadership Incorporated, a nonprofit firm that
provides capacity-building services in diverse
communities across the nation.
Dr. Satterwhite has provided technical
assistance to more than 1,200 organizations in
43 states and 100 cities across the country.
Omowale currently provides organizational
development training and consultation to more
than 50 social justice, health/human service,
community development and philanthropic
organizations across the country annually. He
has served on the boards of a variety of local,
regional, and national organizations.
Dr. Satterwhite has provided professional
development to more than 800 consultants,
community leaders and change agents over the
past 15 years. His previous experience includes
serving on the faculty of Oberlin College, where
he developed the first African-American studies
program and as President of Applied Management
and Organizational Services.
Omowale has a Ph.D. from Stanford University, a
M.A. from Southern Illinois University and a
B.A. from Howard University.
